I like the way the white cloth draws our attention to these two different portions of the film (prompting us to look for potential connections that might otherwise escape notice). It's not really a matter of discerning "hidden" meanings--more a matter of realizing some of the potential inherent to the signifying material that comprises the film (a potential that will always exceed any one person's cognizance at any given point).
